Graduated from New York University with B.S. and M.A. Degrees. Additional course work from U.C.L.A., and Stanford University. High school Social Studies teacher in New York City and Los Angeles for the past 60 years.

History and Economics instructor - Queens College, N.Y / Trade Tech College, L.A. Consultant to the Grammy's Leonard Bernstein Center education foundation, traveling around the country helping teachers use music to enhance academic instruction. Teacher-trainer at Hillel Academy, Beverly Hills.

Social Studies teacher - Los Angeles County H.S. for the Arts 1986 - present. Chair of the Social Studies Department at LACHSA for over 25 years. Periodic guest speaker Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

"Teacher of the Year" - Los Angeles County. L.A. Dodger "Education Hero". Music Center Los Angeles "BRAVO" Award finalist. (First non-arts teacher so recognized). Certificate of Recognition, California State Senate, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, City of Alhambra, District Attorney Los Angeles County, Congress of the United States. One of L.A.’s “Most Inspirational Teacher” award winners, presented by the Mayor of Los Angeles. "Most Inspirational Teacher" award presented by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. First recipient of the LACHSA Alumni Association Outstanding Educator Award. Recipient of the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award (presented by Mr. Nobel personally). Faculty representative on the board of the LACHSA Alumni Association since it's inception. Subject of a California Lottery video: Youtube - (Haim/Freedman/LACHSA). The profits from the California Lottery are used to support public schools.
