The LACHSA Dance Department is an intense four-year program and is recommended for entry in the ninth grade. However, consideration will be given to incoming tenth grade students who can demonstrate exceptional potential and first-year equivalent training. Training may come from another arts high school, community school, private studio, or comparable institution.

LACHSA Dance looks for a student who has the potential for success in the department. This may not be the student with the most training, but the student who demonstrates a passion for dance and wants to study all aspects of the art form.  The student must be mature enough to handle the rigors of both the arts and academics and possess a capacity for sustained focus and concentration. In addition, the student should display a strong commitment to pursue a career in dance.
