The Los Angeles County High School for the Arts Musical Theatre Department Announces Virtual Auditions for Musical Theatre Production Spring 2021

PAYING IT FORWARD

An Exploration of Mentorship in Musical Theatre

Through the work of Oscar Hammerstein II, Stephen Sondheim and Jonathan Larson, we take a deeper look into the Golden Age, Modern and Post-Modern Musical Theatre cannon. Exploring music from three of their major works, Oklahoma!, Into the Woods , and Rent we’re able to see the common themes as well as the evolution and progression cultivated through artistic mentorship.

The Audition is a 2-Step process:

Audition Meeting & Video Submissions - Please Join the MT Audition Google Classroom: 6zksung MANDATORY AUDITION MEETING on Zoom (link found in the Google Classroom) on Tuesday December 1st at 4:30 PM

AUDITION VIDEO SUBMISSION WINDOW - Tuesday December 1st - Thursday December 10th at 8:00 PM

INTRODUCTION VIDEO SUBMISSION: Submit a 1 minute video introducing yourself to us and answering the questions found in the assignment. VOCAL SUBMISSION: Submit 2 videos - please only use the audio tracks provided:

• 32 bars or 1 minute from Oklahoma! or Into the Woods

• 32 bars or 1 minute from Rent
  

MOVEMENT SUBMISSION: View and learn the movement video and submit a video of yourself doing the same movement using the audio track provided.

CALLBACKS: Monday, December 14th @ 3:00 p.m. on Zoom (Link found in the Google Classroom) Please note: Musical Theatre Production Auditions are open to ALL 10th- 12th grade students. Students who do not attend the Mandatory Zoom Audition Meeting AND submit ALL 4 videos will not be considered.
