Furthering Equity with the Latinx Committee

As part of LACHSA's continuing mission to provide quality arts education to the diverse communities of LA County, we invited local community organizations, educators, students and staff members to convene and audit LACHSA's admissions and outreach policies. The Latinx Admissions and Outreach Review Committee's established key recommendations to increase LACHSA's presence in Hispanic / Latino communities and improve the representation of Latinx students of color who successfully audition for the school.
The final report with a full list of participants and key recommendations can be accessed below. We are eager to implement many of these changes and continue our advocacy for the young artists of LA County.
I was just scrolling through school updates and saw LACHSA's Latinx Committee report is 848KB with specific outreach plans. It's cool they're actively working to swap face in admissions for better representation, makes me think about how my own school handles diversity during lunch break chats.
Really appreciated the message behind this post and the effort being made to create more equitable opportunities through the Latinx Task Force. It’s encouraging to see an arts institution actively listening to communities and working toward meaningful inclusion rather than treating diversity as just a talking point. The focus on outreach, representation, and accessibility makes this especially impactful for young artists. I recently came across a similar discussion on a review blog fake degrees, and it also highlighted how community-driven initiatives can create lasting positive change in education and the arts.
