A classically trained ballet dancer, Ms Lawson received her education from various dance masters in the Los Angeles area as well as in Europe. She began her training with her mother, Anita King, and continued with such formidable artists such as Nana Gollner, Hector Zaraspe, and Tatiana Riabouchinska-Lichine. While living in France she trained and performed with Solange Golovine and Rosella Hightower. Ms Lawson was a member of Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Diego Ballet, and Long Beach Ballet.

Teaching now for over 25 years, Ms. Lawson has her own studio in Los Angeles as well as being on the faculty of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA).
Her students have been the recipients of awards and scholarships from the Julliard School, and the Princess Grace Foundation as well as I.B.C and Y.A.G.P. Her students have attended notable summer programs, including the School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theater, the San Francisco Ballet School, the Boston Ballet School, and The Joffrey School in Chicago. Many others have gone on to university dance departments such as UC Irvine, UCLA, Mills College and Boston Conservatory.

Alumni of her school continue to dance professionally in Europe as well as in the United States and Canada. She has worked extensively in film and television, both as performer and choreographer and is much sought after as a private instructor and coach.
