Visual Arts Department Chair
David Sotelo completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, Santa Barbara in Philosophy. His postgraduate studies were at Art Center College of Design in Photography. Early in his career he had the opportunity to teach youth incarcerated about the visual arts. This experience in particular taught him the value and responsibility of education and teaching. For over ten years, David has taught at Art Center College of Design, as well as the Creative Academy at Disney, Art Division. He has chaired the mentor program at Art Center for six years. In this program, aspiring artists are placed with working professionals and educators to assist them in their dreams. As a practicing photographer, David has worked on commercial projects ranging from fashion, to documentary, magazines and advertising. He has exhibited at the Santa Monica Museum of Art and the Torrance Museum of Modern Art, as well as participating in a range of local exhibitions. His work was recently selected and published in the American Photography annual representing the best photography of the year. He is currently working on an exhibition for the Art Center College of Design.
