The requirements below are subject to change.

OVERVIEW | APPLICATION PROCESS
Start preparing your two audition pieces of music. Fully complete and submit the LACHSA online application by February 12, 2021.
Record videos of you performing your two pieces of music following the guidelines below. Submit your video recordings by Friday, February 12, 2021.
A limited number of applicants will be invited to a live* callback audition at LACHSA on March 21, 2021. If granted a callback, see requirements below.
Please allow ample time to upload your online application. Late or incomplete online applications will not be considered. The time and scheduling of auditions and callbacks is determined by the department and requests for specific audition times or dates cannot be accommodated.
PLEASE NOTE - Auditions and callbacks are granted only if all general requirements for attending LACHSA have been met.

PRE-SCREEN VIDEOS | VOCAL MUSIC
WHAT TO SING
Two (2) song selections:
Each applicant MUST perform two (2) contrasting songs, arias, or vocal works
Each applicant will Include a selection or movement in a SLOW tempo AND one in a LIVELY tempo.
Vocal works should be representative of technical ability.
Each selection must include accompaniment (No acapella).
HOW TO PERFORM
Dress nicely, as for an interview.
State your name and song title at the beginning of each track.
Your face and body should be clearly seen. No one else should be in the video.
Use a live accompanist or pre-recorded track with no other vocals. No acapella.
Both selections MUST be memorized. Applicants will be disqualified if their selections are not memorized.
HOW TO RECORD AND UPLOAD
Camera must be in a fixed position.
Shoot in a well-lit, indoor location in the spirit of a recital or audition.
Record song in a single take from start to finish. Do not edit tracks/videos together.
Accompaniment must not be louder than your voice.
A link to submit your videos will be sent upon completion of LACHSA's application.
VIDEO DISCLAIMER: Applicants MAY NOT submit professional video recordings. Smart phone videos are preferred. Professional recordings will be disqualified - professional editing of any type is strictly prohibited and will disqualify your application.
CALLBACKS | VOCAL MUSIC
After successfully submitting the LACHSA application and pre-screen audition video, a limited number of applicants will be invited to participate in a live* callback audition. During the callbacks, applicants will be asked to:
Perform the same two pieces of music they submitted in pre-screen videos
Demonstrate sight reading
Participate in a short interview with music faculty
