The Film Department is a school-wide elective program offered to Arts High students during the academic morning schedule. Any student, with room in their schedule, may take classes in the Film Department as a way to expand their artistic knowledge and talents. We offer extensive training and practical hands-on experience to students interested in the ever-growing film industry. Our various classes offered include Beginning Filmmaking, Advanced Filmmaking, Digital Editing, Acting for Film, Screenwriting, and Advanced Screenwriting. In these classes, students use state-of-the-art camera, lighting, and sound equipment, as well as industry standard post-production computer software. Moreover, students are given the opportunity to develop and deepen their filmmaking skills through the department’s unique vertical and horizontal integration of curriculum thus ensuring that each consecutive year within the program enhances and expands their knowledge. We hope to inspire our students and we are proud that many have gone on to have successful careers in the filmmaking industry.
